19.71MW Bunker-Fired Plant
Barangay Sta. Isabel, Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro
In order to meet the demands for stable power in the province of Oriental Mindoro and in compliance with the EPIRA Law, the Oriental Mindoro Electric Cooperative (ORMECO) conducted a competitive selection process for a new power provider to provide 15mW of dependable power to the cooperative employing bunker-fired diesel generating sets. With the presence of other power providers in the island, the 15mW power is expected to provide regulating or peaking power when load demand exceed the capacity of existing power plants within the cooperative’s service area. When one or more generating units of other power plants become unserviceable, the new bunker-fired power plant will provide base-load power.
DMCI Power joined the bidding conducted on 28 June 2013 and became the only qualified bidder for the project. DMCI Power proposed to install 4 units of 3.89mW bunker-fired diesel generating sets complete with all the auxiliaries required for efficient and continuous operation. The commercial operations of the 15mW bunker-fired diesel power plant commenced in February 2015. The firm was contracted to fulfil the partial power requirements of Oriental Mindoro Electric Cooperative for 20 years.
