DMCI Power starts plant construction in Sultan Kudarat
October 5, 2015
DMCI Power Corporation has started the construction of a 4.84 megawatt diesel power plant in Brgy. Dukay, Esperanza, Sultan Kudarat which it targets to finish before 2015 ends.
“This is the first project of DMCI Power in Mindanao. We believe in the growth prospects of Sultan Kudarat, and look forward to contributing to their continued development,” said DMCI Power President Nestor D. Dadivas.
Recently, DMCI Power obtained an Environmental Compliance Certificate that the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Environmental Management Bureau XII issued, giving it authority to fulfill a three-year contract with Sultan Kudarat Electric Cooperative (SUKELCO).
DPC was tapped by SUKELCO to supply additional electricity for its growing requirements. Currently, the cooperative sources its electricity from the Power Sector Assets and Liabilities Management Corporation, Therma Marine, Inc. and Therma South Inc.
SUKELCO officials said that the six (6) hour rotating brownout happening daily in the province prompted them to enter into a contract with a new power provider.
The new facility will serve as a peaking plant that is expected to run 12 hours daily.
