DMCI Power Corporation (DPC) formally inaugurated its 15-megawatt bunker-diesel power plant in Sta. Isabel, Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro last February 26, 2015.

Present during the even were 2nd District Representative, Reynaldo V. Umali; 1st District Representative Salvador C. Leachon; Jorge A. Consunji; Governor Alfonso V. Umali,Jr.; and former 1st District Representative Rodolfo G. Valencia.

“This power plant is a timely response to the growing power requirements of the province, which has been touted as an emerging eco-tourism destination in the country,” says DMCI Power President Nestor D. Dadivas.

Local officials who attended the inauguration and blessing described the facility as ‘world-class’ and acknowledged the DMCI group as a reliable partner in the continuous growth and development of Oriental Mindoro.

They elaborated that DMCI can be engaged in various provincial developmental plans and programs because of its diversified businesses interests, including construction, mining, real estate, infrastructures, water supply, agriculture, manufacturing and production.

Oriental Mindoro is one of the 14 Small Power Utilities Group contracts that the Department of Energy has identified for privatization to help boost economic activities in remote areas. It’s in line with the government’s missionary electrification program.

The plant will partially supply the power requirements of its off-taker, Oriental Mindoro Electric Cooperative, the local distribution utility, for 20 years.
