Sustainable Livelihood Program: Contribute for Poverty Reduction

As part of its continuing mission to help the community in Calapan City in the province of Oriental Mindoro, the DMCI Power Corporation (DPC) has implemented a sustainable livelihood program that has been providing extra income to poor residents.

DPC Corporate Affairs Head Mocs Maramag said the rag-sewing program dubbed “Rags for Profit” program has become successful as they are now recruiting and training more women-beneficiaries.

“DPC and other companies located in Calapan buy a considerable amount of basahan or rags for the use of their personnel involved in operations and maintenance activities. The company saw this as an opportunity to start a livelihood for the residents of Brgy. Tawiran who know how to sew,” Maramag explained.

DPC creates a job opportunity for the residents of Brgy. Tawiran, Calapan City in Oriental Mindoro. Pieces of cloth that many would consider worthless have found their use in the hands of the women in the community through the “Rags for Profit” program.

The “Rags for Profit” program is one of the livelihood projects of DMCI Power Corporation. DMCI Power is dedicated in improving Filipino Lives through sustainable business opportunities and mutual development programs.
