DMCI Power Corporation (DPC), a wholly-owned subsidiary of DMCI Holdings Inc., was established in 2006 to energize the small and remote islands in the country that are not connected to the main power grid. DPC utilizes all available technology that could provide reliable and sustainable supply of electricity to the islands. DPC continues to pursue its vision of becoming a major off-grid player in the Philippine power industry as it has established its presence in three (3) major provinces: Masbate, Palawan, and Mindoro, all categorized as missionary areas by the government. In addition, DPC has ventured to power generation in the province of Sultan Kudarat which started its commercial operations last December 2016.
The company provides off-grid power to missionary areas through long-term power supply agreements with Masbate Electric Cooperative (MASELCO), Oriental Mindoro Electric Cooperative (ORMECO) and Palawan Electric Cooperative (PALECO).
Currently, DPC operates and maintains bunker-fired power plants and diesel generating sets. However, under its commitment in its power supply agreements, DPC shall construct and operate Thermal Plants that will utilize indigenous coal as its fuel in the provinces of Masbate and Palawan.
DMCI Power Corporation exemplifies excellence in the off-grid power industry and has made contributions to the local economies where it operates.
DMCI Power is the sole power provider in the main island of Masbate. It has a total installed capacity of 41.69MW in the island. Since its commercial operations in July 2010, the peak demand for power in the island has increased significantly from 9MW to 22MW.
DMCI Power is a major power provider in Palawan. On July 25, 2012, DPC was awarded a 15-year contract to supply 25MW guaranteed dependable capacity in the franchise areas of Palawan Electric Cooperative (PALECO). To support the power and economic program of the province, DPC has distributed its generators to the critical areas of Quezon, Aborlan, Brookespoint and Irawan, Puerto Princesa City.
DMCI Power is the biggest power supplier in Oriental Mindoro. On October 14, 2013, Oriental Mindoro Electric Cooperative (ORMECO) awarded DPC a 20-year contract to supply power using a brand new 15MW Bunker-Fired power plant. On February 23, 2015, the 15MW Bunker-Fired power plant located in Brgy. Sta. Isabel in Calapan, started its commercial operations providing base load and regulating power requirements of the electric cooperative
DMCI Power was one of the power providers in Sultan Kudarat. On August 4, 2015, the Sultan Kudarat Electric Cooperative (SUKELCO) awarded DPC a three-year contract to supply 4.84MW to provide back-up/reserve capacity requirement of SUKELCO. Contract ended December 2018.
DMCI Power commercially operated its 15MW Circulating Fluidized Bed Thermal Power Plant in Masbate main island. First thermal-fired power plant installed in the off-grid areas. This plant will result to significant savings in the Universal Charge for Missionary Electrification (UC-ME).
